Avila Lindgren is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of CaribAlgae, an initiative that creates a cycle of sustainable solutions to waste pollution on Caribbean islands by means of algae biomass.
Before starting at CaribAlgae, Avila finished a MSc degree in Marine Microbiology and worked at Royal Shell International as an Ecotoxicologist, where she assessed the toxicity and risk of various effluent waters and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
She grew up on a Caribbean island called Curaçao together with her family since the age of two and still considers Curaçao her home. Avila founded CaribAlgae to make a sustainable impact on the world.
Avila would like to talk on behalf of CaribAlgae to explain the combination of Biology and Tech as a business model but also to support our climate and the environment.
She will discuss
1) The different businesses in which (micro)biologists and technology work together
2) How it is to be a woman in a (bio)tech world, and
3) How algae biotechnology can create impact and support our planet and people, while creating profit.
In summary; Avila Lindgren will present how Tech, Biology, Sustainability, AND Business can go hand in hand!
